There are two basic tools that an actor uses. It is his body and his voice. And that is why acting schools teach you how to both these tools. You would be trained so that you could be heard, understood and felt. In addition to that you would be concentrating on singing, breath work, relaxation and posture so that your voice could be made effective.
As for an actor?s body, well it is his real weapon. Acting schools concentrate on developing this tool so that you could perform anywhere and anyhow. Acting schools would teach you to understand movement and different techniques related to it. Improvisation is something that has also to be learnt.
